It’s true that you are what you eat—so choose your food wisely!
Of course you know that using a moisturizing cream or lotion can help make your skin look terrific. But did you realize that what you put in your body can affect the beauty of your skin just as much as what you put on your body?
In fact, you can almost always treat dry skin without spending a fortune on fancy skin care products. Here’s the lowdown on how to feed your face so it looks its best:
- Drink a minimum of 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.
- Eat lots of cold-water fish, such as salmon and tuna. They provide omega-3 fatty acids, which help your skin retain water to keep it plump, supple, and smooth.
- Forego refined white carbohydrates and choose complex ones like whole-grain bread and pasta, fresh fruit, and veggies.
- Eat healthy fats like olive oil, avocado, and nuts to get lots of vitamin A, which your skin needs to help combat the signs of aging.
And here’s a skin-smart snack that’s outwardly sinful, but inwardly angelic:
Wash ½ cup of fresh raspberries, and pat dry. Pile the berries in a dessert dish, and set aside. Roast 2 tablespoons of chopped unsalted pecans in a toaster oven. Sprinkle the nuts over the raspberries, and pour ½ cup of chocolate soy milk over the top. Then raise your spoon to healthy skin, and dig in!
